Miro Kuzmanovic (b.1976) is an self-taught independent photographer, grew up in former Yugoslavia, immigrating to Austria in 1992 where he lives and works.

He’s originally trained as an electrical engineer and gave up his profession for biggest passion photography, his career began in 1994 when he started to work as a freelance photographer for a local newspaper, since 1999 he's working as a contract photographer for world's largest international multimedia news agency Reuters and NGO's like Red Cross and Caritas.

In 2008 he took part in a photography workshop led by Antonin Kratochvil form the VII Photo agency what changed his perspective on photography.

In recent years, he’s worked on a number of editorial projects with emphasis on the human, social and environmental causes in Eastern Europe to promote dialog between nations and cultures.

He’s photographed the fallout of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in Belarus and the Armenian Genocide in 1915 and Armenian-Turkish relations, as well a story of one of the largest and most controversial legal cases where indigenous communities in Ecuador fight against international oil companies in South America.

He is currently working on his Identity project, “Balkan” a journey in Bosnia and Serbia , which explores the Balkan Countries starting creating a democratic way of life, a Territory and National Identity after the Civil War. Through these images, he strives to illustrate the everyday life focused on Religion, Ethnic Identity Formation in the former Yugoslavia.

His work has been published in numerous international publications including The Guardian, Harold Tribune, The Times, The Scotsman, The Sunday Times, The Independent, The Daily Telegraph, New York Times, Time, Stern, Der Spiegel, Frankfurter Allgemeine, L’Equipe, Algemeen Dagblad, News, Profil, Format among others.
